 2017 Preview

John Carroll finished the 2016 season with a disappointing 0-10 record. Last year John Carroll finished seventh in Class 6A region five with a 0-6 region record and failed to qualify for the playoffs.

The defense allowed a team record 420 points last season. The Cavaliers have not qualified for the playoffs since the 2009 season and would love to end that streak this year. The Cavaliers last playoff victory came during the 2004 season. They would love to break through this year with a post season win.

John Carroll was inconsistent offensively last year and they need some improvement if the Cavaliers want to be competitive. They only averaged 16.2 points a game.

John Carroll struggled on the defensive side of the football last year. The defense found little success in stopping opposing offenses as they gave up an average of 42.0 points a game.

The Cavaliers would prefer to forget the past two seasons as they have finished with a 0-20 record. Since 2010, the John Carroll football program has struggled with a record of 14-56.

Over the past 25 seasons, John Carroll has managed to compile a record of 104-160. Their 39.0% winning percentage ranks 46th in Class 6A and 290th in the AHSAA. Their last winning season was 2010.

The Cavaliers are led by head coach Logan Colafrancesco who is entering his second season at the helm. His team finished with a 0-10 record in his first season at John Carroll. The Cavaliers have yet to reach the playoffs under his direction. They have not won a region crown with Coach Colafrancesco.

The John Carroll Cavaliers will play in Class 6A region five during the 2017 season.

The Cavaliers enter the 2017 season in the middle of a 20 game losing streak. They would like nothing better than to end the string of losses early in the season.

This season, the Cavaliers will be a long shot for one of the four playoff spots in region five. After not winning a single game last year, the goal at John Carroll will be to simply win some games.

The Cavaliers open the 2017 season at home against non-region opponent Hayden on Friday, September 1 at John Carroll Field. Last year the Hayden Wildcats finished with an overall record of 8-3 and in second place in Class 5A region six. The Wildcats lost in the first round of the Class 5A playoffs to Fairfield by a score of 14-7.

John Carroll and Hayden have met a total of 4 times on the football field. The Cavaliers have a 2-2-0 record against the Wildcats. They last met in 2016 with Hayden winning by a score of 35-14.
